Cafe Styles

Today’s wear to work at What a Treat. The cold weather had me feeling in the mood for blue!

I had some fun doing a little victory roll and scarfe roll combo, the perfect up doo for work.

Multi-blue skirt (hand-me-down), white knit top (op-shop), navy jacket (flea market, Berlin), stockings & shoes: (op-shops), earrings (Berlin craft market), headscarfe (bought at a textile artist’s open studio).

Peachy

A day for sleeping in, what a treat-ing, and working on some home projects.

I was lucky to find this cute little knit top (and another in blue!) a little while ago at AWL op-shop. It was my first time wearing this one, and I can’t wait to see how else I can wear it.

I paired it with this lovely orange woollen skirt, white belt, white socks over stockings (it is getting chilly!), and white shoes. My cute birdie brooch was a gift and my orange paper rose earrings were bought in Thailand.

I was one lucky lady to get my hair cut and styled by Hania while she was visiting Adelaide this week. I am only sad that I will be unlikely to achieve this again on my own (but I’m happy I got some pics).

It was also a good opportunity for an outfit shot. I was wearing my favourite minty blouse (Dotti) with this lovely pleated skirt (garage-sale) - It has a wonderful pattern, I’ll have to get a close-up soon. I paired them with my brown butterfly belt, tapestry shoes (op-shop) and purple stockings (I am feeling the need to expand the colours of my stocking collection).

The Hills Secret Garden

I’m finally sharing photos of this wonderful event from March! (so slack). The Hills Secret Garden was absolutely magical. We were greeted by a beautiful flower archway, an array of creatures (which I believe to be the work of Firefly Studios), amazing entertainment, and an incredible atmosphere.

It was wonderful to see that all the decorations had been made from recycled & vintage materials. I also loved that this event was held on a private property alongside a paddock of curious cows.

I am very much looking forward to the next one!

Handmade Gift

When my sisters and I were little, mum commissioned a friend of hers to paint each of us a watercolour name artwork. We each had a different colour theme and there were little bears playing on the letters of our names. I absolutely love mine and have it tucked away safe and sound to keep.

Our friends’ little girl Olive celebrated a birthday recently, and I decided it would be fun to handcraft a name artwork for her. I spent some time fossicking through my craft supplies trying to find a nice combination of fabrics and wallpapers with which to represent each letter. I am a still a bit smitten with bunting so couldn’t help but include some doiley bunting in the design.

When visiting their new place for the party, I was so happy to see that she has lots of red detailing in her room, the name artwork will fit in perfectly!

An outfit post from a little while ago: I purchased this dotty frock on my first visit to the Honey Hive Emporium (which was closing down at the time). I’m so happy I was able to poke around all of its wonderful rooms before they closed their doors in order to embark on a new adventure. I

love the dress’ collar and matching headband! I’m looking forward to styling it with winter layers to break up the intensity of the print a bit more. This time the weather was being kind so I just wore it with my butterfly belt, leather handbag and sandals handmade by my sister scotatto.

A few weekends ago I attended my cousin’s wedding. What a beautiful day it was for a wedding in McLaren Vale. Tristan and I spent the weekend staying in the family’s little caravan nearby and had the morning at the beach before getting dolled up caravan park style.

It was an absolutely beautiful wedding. After the ceremony we enjoyed drinks on the Tapestry Wines deck overlooking the vineyards and sunset, followed by a wonderful reception - soo much dancing!

I wore this lovely polka dot number bought for the occasion from ParasolVintage etsy shop. Underneath I wore my gorgeous new petticoat from Seams Nostalgic (I have to get some proper photos to show it off, it’s gorgeous!). I paired the dress with a cream ribbon for a belt, my cute cream heels (op-shop), and some vintage bling (earrings were a gift from etsy and brooch was a gift from Bauhaus).

A Swinging Spectacular!

It has been ‘Mad March’ in little old Adelaide with so much happening around town including the Adelaide Fringe and the Adelaide Festival, both of which have sadly just wrapped up.

Every year I feel that I haven’t been to enough of the shows and pop-up venues but unfortunately we can’t do it all!

I did however get to take part in the fringe…I was lucky enough to dance in the Swing Sesh’s very own show: ‘A Swinging Spectacular!’…and what fun we had! I danced in three routines as well as the big finale. There were lots of pre-show nerves and a few hectic costume changes, but it was such an enjoyable night….I’m now counting down until the next one!

On my first turn on stage I looked up to see my family filling the first two rows of the audience…thanks for the support guys!

Here are some of the action shots from the night…I am eagerly awaiting the video footage, so I’ll see if I’m able to post something in the near future.

From Bag to Bunting

I’m excited to share my very first solo sewing project! This broken carry/storage bag came into my possession a little while ago and instead of just chucking it in the bin I thought I might make it into something else.

I decided it would make a very cute fabric for some festive bunting so I cut it into flags, got my sew-on, and ended up with enough flags to make 10m worth (this happens to be the perfect length to hang in our back area).

Little Miss Mexico

Last night some friends and I went to the opening night of Little Miss Mexico. Lisa and I took some outfit shots in my garden before going to town fuelled with sangria and salsa.

My outfit for the night was inspired by Frida Kahlo. I wore my red (Christmas) dress from What a Treat, with my cream belt (op-shop) and brown sandals (American Eagle). I wore plaits and flowers in my hair and my amazing rainbow dangly earrings (a birthday gift).

It was a great opening night with amazing lighting, wine tastings and some cool upcycled pallet seating. (If you check out their facebook page you can see progress shots of the transformation taking place)
